My husband persuaded me that Emma's Home should enter a competitive team into a local event at Carlyon Bay Golf Club... so I did. So my husband, 2 of his oldest mates and a new but solid friend, pitched up to represent me and the shops...

Having cleared a space in Truro for the promised trophy, I understand that came a respectable last but I understand they completely won the 19th hole. They still have those skills!!

It was for a great cause - the Children's Hospice South West. Any nominations for players next year will be seriously considered.

Now the new shop is up and running, I can finally get the images and products up from the Spring Summer 2013 collection from Cath Kidston. Please watch out for the new additions!

We are really proud to announce that Emma's Home in Truro has expanded. We have taken on the shop next door. It is a bit daunting especially in light of all the negative press regarding small retail businesses in particular at the moment. However, we believe that there is space in Truro for development and have worked really hard to get the shop ready. Please pop in if you have the chance to see how we have changed things around!!

So the first major buying trip of the year has been and gone, and the stock from that is just started to roll on in....

Sophie Allport have added a stunning new Rose range to their already exquisite range. The fabrics have dainty roses nestled on a gentle grey strip.

Available in the tea towel, carrier bag holder, apron, oven cover, peg handy, pot grab, oven glove and gauntlet. The gauntlet has been redesigned to remove the towelling from the outside. I like it! I like it all and I cannot wait until the china comes in...

We have also got some other new brands coming into the shops - from statement jewellery pieces, to knickers and bras...just to name a few...There are some really lovely new products coming in over the next couple of month...

The exciting prospect is all the new stock that is on its way to the stores. I am really quite excited...There is just so much going on at the moment...It is going to be a great year!

I have just finished putting the new Sophie Allport Labrador collection up on the website. It has been really well received in both stores. It was a no brainer to get this collection in.. apart from the super quality and prints Sophie produces, we have 2 new arrivals in our house .. you have guessed it - Labradors!! Benson the black Lab is an overall eating machine, and I am sure that Douglas, the yellow Lab will receive an ASBO anytime soon for his constant bad behavior and barking..! Puppy training classes are 'fun' with Douglas also having no space awareness and constantly trampling the little Jack Russell puppy who finally got off of it's owners lap... Apart from that they are super cute and totally loveable.. until they start chewing again.....

Emma's Home is delighted to be an official sponsor of the junior Truro Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society (TAODS). This delightful group of young people known as the Tadpoles have put on a splendid interpretation of Much Ado About Nothing, and then a Musical extravaganza! Hits from Oliver and Annie rocked around the theatre. OK - I am a little biased as my youngest daughter sang a stunning duet of "Tomorrow". Quite a choker... Congratulations to to the whole ensemble with a special thank you to Laura for her constant enthusiasm and hard work!

This week I have had the pleasure of having Ellen on work placement from a local secondary school... She kindly wrote a blog for me about her week at Emma's Home...

Here is what she thought - I may add I have not edited it in any way.. Honest.!! I am jut really pleased Ellen has found it worthwhile and we wish her loads of luck when she returns back to school ...

Work experince at Emma's Home has been thoroughly enjoyable and working with the owner Jo, I have learnt many worthy skills! I have had the chance to work in both shops in Truro and Fowey and I have also had experience with working on the website, uploading pictures, writing the info and even taking  photos of the products - it has been a lot of fun. Each day has been different and I have learnt new things every day, it has been so worth while and even greeting people in the shop and working on the till is all part of the experience of working with adults and new people. Jo was always there to offer me help and it has been so lovely to work for her, she even took me out for coffee and really let me get involved in the new things she was doing for the shop and website. This week has been so worth while and the skills I have gained are skills i can take with me and use in the future. 

We are getting prepared for influx of new products for Autumn/ Winter (I know!! We haven't even had our summer yet!) So we are having a sale on all the lighting products by Garden Trading. There are floor lamps, desk lamps, fisherman lamps and hanging pendants. All with 20% off! HOwever numbers are limited!
